The Package

There was once a peddler traveling along the road carrying a heavy package on his back.  A wagon-driver passing by sees the peddler and offers him a ride.  The man get into the wagon and they begin traveling together.  After some time the wagon driver notices that the peddler is still carrying his heavy package on his back.  So he turns to him and asks why doesn't he place his package on the wagon, there's no need to hold it.  The peddler explains that the wagon driver was already doing him a great favor by carrying him to his destination, he didn't want the wagon to have to carry his heavy package too!

(השלך על ה יהבך והוא יכלכלך" (תהלים נב:כג"
"Cast your burden onto Hashem, and He will sustain you."

It's so easy to lose sight of the fact that we are already on Hashem's wagon- So why do we keep carrying our burdens on our back? This parable brings into perspective on pressure and worry is not necessary. Hashem is taking care of us, He's the one running the show and is the only one that knows what will be,...
so why don't we just relax and go with the flow?! The Yetzer hara is trying to get us to feel this way so that we lack in our emunah, faith, and therefore don't rely on Hashem. This is exactly what our test is, we the generation of Moshiach, need to strengthen ourselves in emunah! Without emunah, we are nothing! Our job is to come to close Hashem and help move others too.

When we work on our emunah during the good times, it will help prepare us for the hard times.  Make sure to wake up each morning and thank Hashem for your spouses, children, and parents. Thank Hashem for stubbing your toe on the chair for the tenth time today. And with Hashem's help we will only have times of good.

For those who are already struggling with hard times, and many of us are, make sure to tell hashem thank you for the troubles.  Hashem loves you and that's why you are even struggling.  If Hashem didn't love you He wouldn't test you and push you to come close to Him.  All Hashem wants from us is to be close to Him.  The tests are just for us to call out Hashem's name, to call to our father in Heaven, tell Him thank you and I love you!
